Hope Community Church

Overview

This project was an update of an earlier design project.  The original design project was completed in early 2011 and was the result of a referral from our friends at Concierge Medical & Risk Consultants.  The initial project was a complete redesign of the church's website and was implemented as a "static" website with Flash animation on the home page.  The update project involved converting the website to a Content Management System (CMS) so that church staff could easily add/change/delete content to keep the site fresher and more relevant.  The switch to a CMS also meant that the staff could make changes themselves, without involving the tdburns design team, saving money for the church to use on other projects.

In addition to converting the site to a CMS, this project also involved changing the Flash animation on the home page into a more traditional slideshow that utilized scripting so that the content could be viewed on iPhone and iPad web browsers (which do not support Flash).

Technical Components

• The updated site was implemented using Joomla! version 2.5 using a custom template developed by tdburns.
• The site uses javscript based Joomla! modules to supply the animated drop-down menu system and the home page slideshow.
